What we do at the Isle of Skye Seaweed Company is produce a range of natural seaweed skincare products in-house on the island using wild seaweed we sustainably hand cut using an approved and licenced method, from the exposed and dramatic coastline of Skye.

After harvesting the seaweed is infused with coconut oil, this is the basis of all our formulations and is used with a combination of essential oils, butters and wax to create the end products. So they are “Paraben Free” and “Palm Oil Free”, they also do not contain any harsh petrol-based chemicals and of course are “Cruelty Free”, just simple skincare.

The business that was founded by Ben Oakes who was born and bred on Skye, began trading at the end of 2017. Though it started then, the business took root two years before, over the course of that time he developed his initial products and designs for the business while working multiple jobs from class room support to scallop ranching with his family. Before returning home he gained a degree in “Sustainable Environmental Management” from Edinburgh University, where he discovered his passion for the marine environment.

The first product released was the Wild Seaweed and Peppermint lip balm, closely followed by a Wild Seaweed and Mango Butter hand and body balm. Just recently we released a beard care oil and wax called “After the Storm” using a combination of ingredients including Golden Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter and scented with Black Pepper and Vanilla to give them a warm smooth musk.

Our natural seaweed skincare products are not only made here to our formulas they are inspired by the Isle of Skye with it's breathe-taking landscape and often harsh and ever changing weather. To help you look after your skin and the beard in your life.
