For the beard in your life - My tips and tricks for beard care.
For the beard in your life
Since I could grow a beard I've usually had some kind of facial hair, sometimes I've made some questionable style choices. Like the time I ended up with a handle bar moustache on my student ID for 3 years. So it is fair say now after so many years of growing hair on face, I've learnt a good bit about having a beard and how to look after it, usually through trial and error. So here's a few tips and tricks on how to look after the beard in your life.

So if you are thinking about growing a beard, one the best things you can do early on is to comb it regularly. This helps to teach your hairs what direction to grow so when the beard gets longer it is easier to control along with using beard oil. Another question you might be asking yourself is why are beard combs often wooden. Well the answer is because of the static electricity generated if you use a plastic one, it could make it pretty tricky to get beard hairs to behave if the static electricity is trying to make your hairs stand on end. When I comb my beard the first thing I do is apply a small amount of beard oil to the end of my fingers then starting underneath I work the oil right down to my skin adding more as needed. You only need a small amount and it is easier to add more than to wipe extra off. Starting at the neck and working out I pull the comb through till it runs through the hair easily. You will probably look silly doing this but it is the best way of getting those hairs. Next you comb it down into the shape you want, it is at this point I would use the wax to get the beard looking exactly the way I wanted.
For me, putting wax in my beard is something I do when I want my beard to be on its best behaviour, obviously there isn't much point in me waxing my beard before I head to the shore to harvest seaweed or head out to go scallop diving. The best way I found to apply wax is to warm a small amount between your fingers and gently rub it into your beard, starting underneath at your neck and working out toward the mutton chops. Shaping the beard into a style you want.
One of the questions I often get asked is when should you start using beard oil and the simple answer is as soon as you like. Though beard oil really comes into its own once the beard has reached the infamous “itchy phase” that's the skin drying out and adjusting to having hair on your face. Beard oil can help with itchiness and helps to control those wilder hairs that won't behave while keeping those beard hairs healthy and happy.

So you've grown a beard, what about trimming it. Well, what I would recommend is a good wet/dry electric trimmer. For me the best way to use a trimmer is to use it without the adjustable head and just use it tidy the hairs on your neck and trim down the hairs on your mutton chops especially all those ones that won't behave
